I am interested in the tension between chaos and order, the sporadic and the planned; I explore these micro-relationships within our society. Through shapes, vivid colors, and found images, I reference this paradox. I collect as a means of research, and make as a way of working out what that research means. I collect material (primarily paper) wherever I go, constantly looking for the fabric/archive of a society.
Collecting and responding with a new narrative, I am interested in building surfaces with grit and layers by adding and then redacting. I primarily work analog by using my human touch to create the work. The scale varies from small index card size to 5 feet wide. I explore the dissonant through the co-existence of patterns and images that do not typically belong together as a way of pursuing and creating harmony.
